The model

Capture truth. Bill by basis.

A marker records the physical fact — this work type, here, four linear feet. How it bills is a property of the job, chosen when you roll totals up, never at capture.

A 3' window takes a 4' lintel. Some jobs bill that as 1 EA. Others bill 4 LF. Same data, either bid.

So the crew never has to know how the job was bid, and a re-bid doesn't mean re-measuring the building.

The workflow

Four steps, and the office stops transcribing

STEP 01

Calibrate the view once

Click two points on the plan and type the real distance between them. That view is now to scale, and it carries a calibration badge so nobody has to wonder. Re-calibrate later and every measurement on that view re-measures itself.

STEP 02

Mark the work in the field

Full-screen Takeoff mode on the phone: Count, Length, and Area tools, a work-item picker you can add to on the spot, and a running totals bar. Session undo only ever touches what you placed in this session.

STEP 03

Roll up per the job's billing basis

Totals group by work item — counts, total linear feet, total square feet — with the billed column called out. Quantities split into entry-date batches so a billing pass sees exactly what's new since the last invoice.

STEP 04

Export to CSV, PDF, or Bluebeam

A CSV with an Entered column for the billing batch, a printable PDF with a legend, or a Bluebeam-native PDF whose measurements Revu re-measures and edits as its own.

Bluebeam

It lands in Revu as Revu's own measurements.

Not a screenshot of a takeoff. Not a flat PDF someone has to re-measure by hand. The export carries the scale you calibrated in the field, so your estimator opens it in Bluebeam and the measurements are live — checkable, editable, and already in the Markups List.

  • Calibrated views carry a real measurement scale into the PDF, so Revu's own measuring tools work on the page.
  • Areas export as Area measurements and lengths as Polylengths — not pictures of shapes.
  • Counts arrive as native Count groups, grouped by work item and billing date.
  • Where the original plan was a vector PDF, markups land on that page rather than a flattened image.

Tracepoint doesn't replace Bluebeam — it feeds it. The accuracy pass stays where your estimator already works.

What's in it

Built for how a takeoff actually gets done

Count, Length, Area

Three tools, unit-locked to the work item you're marking, so an LF item can't accidentally collect an EA count. Work items can be created on the fly without leaving the plan.

Two-tier work-item vocabulary

An org-wide standing list — your tool chest — plus items scoped to a single project, because different jobs carry different work. Admins can promote a project item to the org list.

Date-coded billing batches

Every export carries the entry-date batch, mirroring the manual Revu convention. Totals split per work item and date so you can see which quantities have already been invoiced.

Desktop hand-entry

A takeoff done by hand on paper can be typed straight into Tracepoint on the Mapping screen using the same tools — no Bluebeam round-trip required at all.

Quantities stay with members

Field workers capture photos; they don't place quantities. Takeoff tools are members-only, and quantity fields are stripped from worker and public views entirely.

Export purity

Markers without a work item are excluded from exports rather than silently counted as something. An uncalibrated view exports as plain drawings with no scale attached.

What it doesn't do

An uncalibrated view won't export measurements.
If you haven't set a scale on a view, its shapes export as plain drawings with no measurement attached. We'd rather show an honest absence than a made-up scale.
There's no “billed” flag yet.
Exports are date-coded into entry batches so you can see which quantities are new since the last invoice, but Tracepoint doesn't yet track which batch you actually billed.
Field workers don't place quantities.
Takeoff tools are for signed-in members. Worker links capture photos, and quantity fields are stripped from worker and public views entirely.
